Welcome letter to 9th International Meeting of Young Beekeepers in Nérac, France
Dear beekeeping friends,
We are pleased to welcome you to take part in the 9th International Meeting of Young Beekeepers which will take place in Nérac, France from July 2-6th 2018.
This will be a great opportunity to gather young beekeepers from all continents to promote beekeeping among young people, to exchange on current topics and to discover our country and our culture.
For 2018, thanks to the Nérac Secondary School infrastructures, we will welcome 29 countries : Albania, Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, England, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Poland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Zimbabwe.
We are honored to greet new countries to go on developing the “IMYB community” and to enable people from all over the world to take part to our gathering, to meet new beekeepers and to develop their beekeeping knowledges.
The Event
The 9th International Meeting of Young Beekeepers will gather young beekeepers and accompanying adults for cultural, social and technical interchange.
For the Young Beekeepers, the competition is more likely to be a way of meeting people and sharing their knowledges with other beekeepers than a competition in proper sense.
The event will take place in the Agricultural Secondary School A. FALLIERES where all participants and accompanying adults will be welcomed and accommodated during the meeting but various activities will be organized for all participants in our region.
As the former years, competitions will be at two levels – internationally composed teams competing against each other and on an individual basis where the aptitude, attitude and achievements of individual Young Beekeepers are assessed.
Moreover, the competition will be composed of 14 workshops : 11 practical workshops on Tuesday and 3 theoretical workshops on Thursday.
You will have a time (4 minutes) to present your country thanks to a fun presentation. As we have seen during previous IMYB, you can make this presentation in a dance, a song, a power point, you’re free. Considering the number of countries we welcome, 7 or 8 presentation will be made each day before dinner.
About your luggage, you don’t have to bring bed sheets. Nevertheless, you need to bring your toilet bags (towels, hairdryer,…) and suitable dresses for the different activities (Sport, beekeeping, ceremonies,…). For young beekeepers, it is not necessary to bring beekeeper’s suit but closed shoes.
You will have the opportunity to close your luggage in closet but please think to bring a padlock.
